RIPTIKs and Wave Cards

RIPTICKs at the Front Desk are for:
  • Students who are waiting for a Replacement Wave Card.
  • Students who don't have a Wave Card and need transportation for LTIs, Sports, or College Classes.
    • RIPTICK usage is tracked and monitored to ensure we are providing the right amount to buildings. 
    • RIPTICKs are not for going to the Mall, going to a friend's house, or anything outside of school obligations. 
    • The RIPTICKs at the Front Desk are not for trips. If RIPTICKs are used for events that they are not allocated for, it will leave a student without transportation. 
 
Wave Cards
This year, we have updated our radius, so students who are 1.0 Miles away will now receive a Monthly Bus Pass. The 1.0 miles is 'as the crow flies'; in other words, it is a straight line from point A to Point B. Not the travel distance on a GPS (i.e., Google Maps)
 
When students receive their Bus Pass, they should immediately register it following the instructions on the paper sleeve around their card. They register their card HERE by creating an account.
 
If a card is lost, broken, or not working, or if a student thinks they should have gotten one and didn't. Have them scan the QR Code around the buildings, or they can submit a request HERE.
    • If a Card is reported missing between the 15th*-31st of the month:
      • The card is not registered- they will have to wait until the 1st of the following month for their Replacement Card
        • (*Dates are subject to business days. Ex: If the 15th is on a Saturday, then the date will shift back to the 14th)
      • The card is registered- they can transfer their pass even during the end half of the month. 
        • To transfer their Pass, they have to log into the WAVE app or The RIPTA website, register the new card, and transfer their Bus Pass from the old card to the new card. If they have a problem, they should call RIPTA at 401-781-9400
