COVID-19 GUIDANCE - 2022/2023 School Year
As we return to school the following requirements will be in place -
Face Masks(Updated 8/3/22)
- Fully Vaccinated: Mask use not required, but recommended
- Unvaccinated: Mask use not required, but recommended
Please make sure that your student has a clean, well-fitting mask with them at all times.
Visitors/Families
- Visitors/families will be screened by staff before entry.
- Families will be allowed to attend exhibitions and learning plan meetings.
Quarantine Decisions
We have established these guidelines as a basis for decision-making. All quarantine decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis and may be influenced by input from the Rhode Island Department of Health.
- Get tested.
- Call the Met Helpline - at 401-632-4502.
- If you receive a positive test you must stay home for 5 days minimum.
- On day 5 of your isolation, call the Met Helpline to confirm your status (Symptomatic or Asymptomatic).
- If after 5 days of isolation you are still symptomatic, you should continue to isolate until you are symptom-free.
- If your symptoms have subsided and you are without a fever for 24 hours, you can return to school. You will be required to wear a mask at school for days 6-10 after testing positive. If you are unable to wear a mask you must stay home until day 10.
- Call the Met Helpline - at 401-632-4502.
- If you are fully vaccinated or you have had COVID19 in the last 90 days -and- there is NOT an active case of COVID19 in your home you will be asked to self-monitor for 10 days and you can return to school.
- If you are not fully vaccinated and you can follow the monitor-to-stay protocol -and- there is NOT an active case of COVID19 in your home you can return to school.
- If you are not fully vaccinated and you cannot follow the monitor-to-stay protocol you will be required to stay home for 5 days.
- If there is an active COVID19 infection in your home, call the Met Helpline for further instruction.
- Received a vaccine booster dose;
- Completed the two-dose primary series of Pfizer within the last 5 months;
- Completed the two-dose primary series of Moderna within the last 6 months; or
- Completed the one-dose primary series of J&J vaccine in the last 2 months.
* If they develop symptoms, they should isolate at home and get tested.
- Conduct symptom screening and attest that they don’t have symptoms for 5 days
- Follow quarantine guidance when outside school (stay home, wear a mask when around anyone outside of your immediate family), as well as updated CDC guidance about masking (surgical mask or KN95/N95).
- Students following the Monitor-to-stay protocol must wear a mask while in school for as long as recommended.
- If you have any symptoms or cannot comply with quarantine guidance or you have difficulty wearing a mask in school, you must complete a 5 day isolation period.
We will be monitoring staffing situations. If too many of our staff are absent due to quarantine requirements we may be forced into distance learning until staffing levels are sufficient to reopen school. We will keep our families informed if this situation arrises.
We will work with the Rhode Island Department of Health to monitor for outbreaks in our school and in our community. If we see multiple positive cases arise within a school we may be forced into distance learning until the outbreak is contained. We will keep our families informed if this situation arises.
