  4. On day 5 of your isolation, call the Met Helpline to confirm your status (Symptomatic or Asymptomatic).
  5. If after 5 days of isolation you are still symptomatic, you should continue to isolate until you are symptom-free.
  6. If your symptoms have subsided and you are without a fever for 24 hours, you can return to school. You will be required to wear a mask at school for days 6-10 after testing positive.  If you are unable to wear a mask you must stay home until day 10.
What to do if you have been exposed to COVID19 and you have no symptoms-
  1. Call the Met Helpline - at 401-632-4502.

Quarantine Exemption for those 18+ who are close contacts and fully vaccinated

Staff and students age 18 and older who are identified as close contacts and are not living with someone with an active case of COVID19 are exempt from quarantine and should wear a well-fitting mask around others for 10 days if they don’t have symptoms and have:
  • Received a vaccine booster dose;
  • Completed the two-dose primary series of Pfizer within the last 5 months;
  • Completed the two-dose primary series of Moderna within the last 6 months; or
  • Completed the one-dose primary series of J&J vaccine in the last 2 months.

    * If they develop symptoms, they should isolate at home and get tested.

Quarantine Exemption for those 13-17 who are close contacts and fully vaccinated

Students aged 13-17 who are identified as close contacts and are not living with someone with an active case of COVID19 are exempt from quarantine and should wear a well-fitting mask around others for 10 days if they don’t have symptoms.

Quarantine Exemption all ages who are close contacts

Students and staff identified as close contacts and are not living with someone with an active case of COVID19 are exempt from quarantine if they don’t have symptoms and the person previously had COVID-19 no more than 90 days prior to the last date of close contact exposure.

For those who are not fully vaccinated and have not had COVID19 in the last 90 days

Students and staff who are not fully vaccinated, are exposed to someone with  COVID19 and are not living with someone with an active case of COVID19 and do not have symptoms, should follow the Monitor-to-Stay quarantine protocol, which allows students and staff to attend school in person and participate in school-related extracurricular activities.

Monitor-to-stay protocol -
  • Conduct symptom screening and attest that they don’t have symptoms for 5 days
  • Follow quarantine guidance when outside school (stay home, wear a mask when around anyone outside of your immediate family), as well as updated CDC guidance about masking (surgical mask or KN95/N95).
  • Students following the Monitor-to-stay protocol must wear a mask while in school for as long as recommended.
  • If you have any symptoms or cannot comply with quarantine guidance or you have difficulty wearing a mask in school, you must complete a 5 day isolation period.

Close contacts at home

Students and staff who are in close contact with a person at home with active symptoms of COVID19 will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

We will be monitoring staffing situations.  If too many of our staff are absent due to quarantine requirements we may be forced into distance learning until staffing levels are sufficient to reopen school.  We will keep our families informed if this situation arrises.

We will work with the Rhode Island Department of Health to monitor for outbreaks in our school and in our community.  If we see multiple positive cases arise within a school we may be forced into distance learning until the outbreak is contained.  We will keep our families informed if this situation arises.

All information on this page is subject to change.  We will continue to update you on changes as they happen.

Please continue to monitor your child for signs of illness.  Keep them home if they are not feeling well or if you have any indication that they have been exposed to COVID-19.

If you have any questions about COVID-19, vaccinations or general questions about the these guidelines, please call our COVID-19 Helpline at 401-632-4502.
