Reports To: Director of Social Work
Employment Status: Full-time, academic year, grant-funded for a 1-3 year period
Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000
Start Date: August 2021

Position Overview
The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Community Engagement Coordinator will develop and facilitate Social EmotionalLearning (SEL) classroom and small group education, assist with designing intervention plans for student and contribute to family engagement initiatives district wide

Essential Responsibilities and Responsibilities:
● Design and facilitate classroom and small group psychoeducation and awareness activities utilizing evidence based social work methods and SEL indicators.
● Facilitate safe space groups and forums for students to process feelings and experiences during quarantine, skill build emotional expression, and hands-on practice of coping strategies in the school setting.
● Organize family engagement events to provide a forum for families to communicate and access needed
resources and information for mental health intervention needs, housing, food, and employment insecurity.
● Develop and facilitate staff level professional development and individual consultation with a focus on behavior management in the classroom, trauma-informed teaching, positive behavior interventions, and best practices for establishing healthy rapport and relationships with students.

Related Services:
● Mobilize family, school, and community resources to enable our students to learn as effectively as possible in their educational program
● Assist in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies for individual and classroom support
● Assist with grant research for SEL and Mental Health resources and programming

Services to Students:
● Counseling (group)
● Group level work with a focus on mental health education and awareness raising
● Assist as needed to identify resources for mental health intervention and specialized care

Services to Parents/Families:
● Organize family engagement events across buildings and campus-wide
● Assist parents/guardians to access programs available to students with special needs.
● Assist parents/guardians in accessing and utilizing school and community resources.

Requirements
Qualifications &Skills
● Master’s degree in Social Work, MSW
● 3 years experience, school setting, preferred
● Knowledge of evidence-based interventions for adolescent health
● Knowledge of community resources, preferred
● Bilingual/Multilingual preferred
● Ability to demonstrate effective liaison relationships with parents, schools, and agencies
