3 years ago I have never in my wildest dreams have imagined that I would become a comic book author a comic book illustrator and it's children's book illustrator all before I graduate. Hyde thank you to everybody we've been apart of my tremendous Journey even though you should be thanking me for allowing you to be a part of this movie I called My Life by people who believe in me it was with you all that I was given a fish to grow I have no plans but Allah Adventure the Matt is going to stay with me the rest of my life because that's where I did something nobody ever for Fairport I will forever be grateful if you have qualified needs to be the my next journey I have to say I'm ready I'm ready for school I'm ready to now be my own adult fully and to show my family that I will work hard for my degree always supported me whatever my little heart desires thank you all for coming and being a part of this experience with you good evening and welcome to the graduation of the class of 2020 my name is Nancy Diaz and I'm honored to be the co-director of the Met School class of 2012 strong student you have been resilient persistent and understanding through these uncertain times this year is unlike any year that you have had to experience before but here we are stronger than ever even though we were not expecting the virus Med students ready for anything that came their way you had four years of working on yourself their community and your future who are good citizens who will learn from this experience and take charge to make sure our communities are strong I'm constantly Amazed by what our seniors accomplished thank you family friends and it wouldn't be here without you the class has a hole in each student individually had a tea so much they have gotten a jump start on College Bayern over 1950 college credit this class has received 2.9 Million Dollars in college scholarships they have created 20 small businesses and startups be seniors completed 350 free trade certifications which led to real jobs five of our graduates have already been hired full-time by their internship site now mentor of one of our seniors who is the project manager at gilbane Construction his Knowledge and Skills with our students in your class we have social activist we have Community leaders we have many athletes artists one has Illustrated and published books another study at a top art school in California during New Year and some of our seniors are becoming our next First Responders this class has been featured in the news and gotten lots of PR for the amazing work and dedication to our environment and Community one was features in the commercial people.com in an article for Providence business news for his business and creativity the class of 2020 have works at incredible internships which has given them a network which will last forever some of the sites where they have interned are robots an electronic sound production and design small farms Construction in woodworking bike mechanics and athletic training Culinary Arts Engineering and mechanics develop project management skills and dovie in Marine Bio Mystic Aquarium students in this class have traveled throughout the US and the world speak at conferences complete the real world around them we have students biking through France presentations in Washington DC in Detroit completing projects in Israel and in Japan and all over the world service project applicants from this class but we're really warms my is that the Met every student is recognized in every student can make change in their own way even though we were apart for some of this year for you were put on Earth for a purpose find your purpose work for what you believe in and vote to make change congratulations to the next class of 2020 and co-founder of the met with Elliot washer 24 years ago and congratulations to the class of 2020 you are an incredible class behind me you see the wallpaper of all my sneakers today I have on my LeBron's equality choose one black one white perfect for this tough time when we're trying to work through our problems but I read that he had talked about his parents are his Heroes I know your parents are Your Heroes and I thank Allah love you parents and family for being the heroes of your son and daughter so when Ellie and I were thinking about starting a school we saw a survey that said a hundred thousand students said school was boring so how do you create a task it's not boring but it is rigorous also and it is different enough so the students will learn to really think deeply that students will learn to problem-solve to be creative to speak up and that's why we create turn the map and then we got very lucky for a first graduating class Bill Gates Foundation sent their top man fell in love with the students and the nonprofit over 20 million dollars in C I want mess all over the country so now there are 75 Mets in the United States and then it just took off out of the country internationally so we have over a hundred schools in Africa Australia the nun it's pretty amazing and now they're over 25,000 students going to schools like this around the world and now we even started the college College Unbound it's for adults who want to return to school and gets a bachelor the Great and the cool thing is practically every year we have a student graduate from the mat and Mom or Dad graduate from college bound at the same time so it's beautiful everyone has been talking and writing about the Met besides having a and your visitors a year they come into your classrooms and talk to you so I just looked around my house and picked up books what school could be the mat they talked about just dropped them off at the Harvard Professor saying the Mets the way to go who you know this new book that came out said a met teachers are still in touch with their students years after and then of course I lay sure wrote a book about the school translated into Spanish into Koreans so it's been fantastic but more amazing is our President Obama in one of his major speeches while he was president not to get it wrong Obama says that's why we follow examples of places like the Met Center in Rhode Island woohoo that gives students the individual attention while also preparing them to World Hands-On training the possibility of succeeding in a career in college so not only and writing about us and Obama talking about us but the colleges understand how good you are just got the list of over 70 colleges that you've been accepted to and all the colleges in Rhode Island RISD URI Bryant Rodger Williams beautiful but then all the art schools from around the country the Art Institute in Chicago Academy of Art in California Conservatory of Performing Arts and credible Cooper Union in New York the Fashion Institute The Institute Sarah Lawrence Wheaton College University of mass Ithaca College it's incredible so everyone understands how good you are S P Diddy would say can't stop won't stop and I'd also say is LeBron would say just do it but I changed just do it just face my name is Arthur Beren and I'm the proud principal of the graduates from the Liberty class of 2020 the Brian bunch and Desiree's advisory are an impressive group of young adult David leader is in our building for 4 years taking charge of assemblies Plainfield days mentoring younger students and showing off their Project work to the community they've made significant contributions to many sectors to their projects and Ensure the fields of public education digital animation nursing home care sign language interpretation Physical Therapy construction computer coding and Hardware automotive repair Public Health jewelry Manufacturing spider Social Services fashion women's reproductive Health tourism City management and law just to name a few these advisories include recipients of college scholarships full ride the recipients Congressman cicilline leadership award for published authors holders of college Associate's degrees and transcripts full of college credit first generation high school graduate in college gomers activists and World Changers they have accomplished so much I'm so proud of him and I know they will be the fellow citizens that we will need to rebuild and reinvent our world I also want to congratulate Brian board Theory and Desiree Gamble guide and advise the young people for the past four years your wisdom hard work creativity and perseverance have been critical to them this Milestone be ready for college and careers congratulations to you and to the whole Educators and support Professionals in Liberty building and the Mets who played in important role in supporting these graduates into the parents of the grass you did it to you sign your students diplomas as well because your efforts were couch regarding your children to make the right decisions and stay on the path of success and now I will leave you graduates with these final words of advice for your principal whatever you do with your lives strive to do it well and always help someone on the way what an extraordinary moment we find ourselves in tonight if we celebrate this graduating class of 2020 my name is Mary Tiara and I'm the principle of the Paul W Crowley East Bay camp at the Mets score and honored to reflect on our 35 East Bay graduates the stories of his graduating class are the stories of many things they are stories of inquiry and transformation stories of self-discovery and South actual their stories of family stories of parents aunties and uncles Grandma and Grandpa's who believed in these young people unconditionally and who took risks so that these graduates could pursue a path Less Traveled they are stories of internship mentors who generously shared their expertise and stories of devoted educators are senior advisors Kristen BT sarafyan Hammond and Kara will and our entire faculty at East Bay who got these kids enough to demand that they overcome their barriers and unlock their most extraordinary gifts these are stories of young people who are confident and humble ambitious and compassionate Young people who value innovation more than productivity advocacy more than compliance creation more than consumption and collaboration more than competition the story of the class of 2020 is a story of young people I found a deep sense of personal freedom and who have courageously authored their own education because I hold these stories in my heart tonight I'm confident to say that in this moment we should all feel immense East Bay graduate tonight the world offers you an unprecedented opportunity to move towards a future in which our human Community stretches away from what we were and toward what we can become know that my greatest wish for you is that you bring with you into this future your personal freedom tonight I also leave you with a challenge author Toni Morrison said if you are free your real job is to free somebody I challenge you to use the freedom you have found at the Met to uplift us all toward a future we have not yet imagined congratulations East Bay class of 2020 we are so proud of you hello my name is Tracy terranova principal of the quality and it's my honor and privilege to introduce you all to the class of 2020 from the equality building each of these seniors walked into the building years ago and some of laughing that whenever they first came through those doors they walked in as a unique individual not knowing what to expect not quite sure what that was about but so excited to explore with the school could offer them during their time here these 12th graders have spent hundreds of hundreds of hours of their internship site we've had students create science experiments for elementary school kids built furniture and outdoor structures in turning the Brown University robotics lab work with patients Rhode Island Hospital women infants and Kent Hospital Suicide Prevention their work at the Department of Health intern at the Trinity Repertory Theater help deliver a baby while on a Ride Along 2 Providence Fire Department design their own clothing and travel this down the Alabama to learn about the Civil Rights Movement leave accumulated certification CNA OSHA and ServSafe and obtain hundreds of college credit as a collective class they presented handfuls of exhibitions dedicated hours of volunteering in their community and complete deep meaningful projects with the Lovin for their advisors Tony and Liz this group of students were able to experience the world outside their normal bubble they traveled inside and outside the country learning as they went they were camping trips Rhode Island exploration trips to the museum in Boston of course the buffet every moment whether it was inside or outside the building was a bonding experience a chance to learn about people who are from different walks of life singers also lost something and no I'm not headphones are bus passes they lost the fear of speaking in public they lost the feeling that they were in it alone they lost the ability to say I can't or I don't know how soon after a little pushing from their advisor weather Mentor they did they lost the notion that they were just a statistic and wouldn't make it anyway and they lost all the naysayers just by creating and achieving their individual goals holy crap so proud of the young adult to become as you reflect back on your four years the may I hope you can can you do realize all that you've gained and all that you've lost during your tenure here remember who helps you remember why you did it and remember how you got to where you are today congratulations it's been an honor hello my name is Joe Illinois Williams and I am the proud principal of the 2020 graduates from Manchester at the day has come where I students have completed their high school education met Justice graduate I am determination growth and commitment to your learning each other and your journey it does not seem that long ago when you met us staff and your advisory mates during summer and fusion orientation back in June of 2016 basketball recruits you have made such a memorable and packed for our school Community the Fondest Memories will be the amazing internships certifications obtained and college classes you have all succeeded we have many students weapons are there internships a handful have been hired full time I seen you have had amazing learning experiences some other unique internships are Toyota of Smithfield Rhode Island Foot Care Sotheby's International Realty A1 Custom Auto Body Pappas Physical Therapy Clinica Esperanza and Railroad Park recording company name and I could go on a these incredible opportunities have resulted in student solidifying their careers with certainty that Justice graduates are committed to devoting their lives to music forensic biology nursing Animal Welfare environmental sustainability engineering Finance entrepreneurship law enforcement construction Physical Therapy acting and actual design they have great passion and they also have logged in many hours in their respective field I learned so much at their end exhibition where they showcase their learning and also reflected on their growth so proud of you all and I'm thrilled you helped to shape and enhance a school culture you are wonderful individuals destined for greatness this of Costco's not have happened without the support of your loved ones and after a dynamic and talented senior advisors eyewitness that steadfast dedication hard-work collaboration creativity and positive attitude that led to success for the Justice senior class fancy is an incredibly positive advisor in role model for his do it has been for our building his advisory been sea sponge are off to do wonderful things in the world see what are his Relentless pursuit of great opportunity Caitlin has been an amazing Advocate and role model for a student so careful planning patience and trust and persistent she guided her students to amazing feat tremendous growth personally and academically Nate is a spider for his student Kansas High champion of taking care of your mind body and soul Nate has helped students supposed to amazing learning opportunities Metro seniors you have wonderful memories you will always treasure the trip to Brownstone in Cape Cod funny pick me up the advisory challenges when you came in first place the endless laughter the loving support of each other when sick the champion of each other to be a very best you all came together and made this experience spiteful from blank and loving you said it meant just as soon as you finish what you started and now onto New Beginning this is not a farewell this is a we will see each other again the last time or share an Aspire dancehall East bearss and go after your goals you all are amazing congratulations Matt Justice class of 2020 welcome to the world famous P Street this is my Maria and I am the Peace Tree principle when you look at our school you make comment on how tiny it is exactly but the calm and love inside of my building is larger than life the P Street class of 2020 has bike to amazing advisors the first of the two Carrie Mathison incredible Adventure in learning as they taught her about what it means to show tough love she taught these amazing students about the opportunities that life has to offer Carrie has created a bond with her students that will last a lifetime the second of the two Erica Campbell strong as the kids instilled in them that if they work hard enough her wisdom on women have raised 30 strong independent student who are ready to take on the next chapter of class of 2020 the world is your playground a play Imagine thumbs up I thought you had brains in your head you have feet in your shoes you can steer yourself any direction you choose your on your own and you know what you know and you are the one who'll decide which congratulations Matt P Street class of 2020 my name is David Grace and I am the proud principal of the 2020 graduates from met in unity Unity seniors you all have made it and achieve your mind Journey for the completion of high school it has been an amazing four years of real world learning to internships college classes certification program and many special memories with your advisor Unity staff in pierced your love for science entrepreneurship Human Services education art Community Development culinary and the medical profession who position you to make new impacts in these careers I have no doubt that you will all continue to leave increase as you Journey forward today marks the day that
